Bey Foundation Fellowship

Experience the Practice of Law Beyond the Classroom

The Bey Foundation Fellowship program provides high school students, undergraduate students, and law students with an opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to the legal profession and experience the day-to-day work of a personal injury law firm.

Designed for students who are exploring or actively pursuing a career in law, the program goes beyond traditional job shadowing. Participants work alongside attorneys and legal support professionals and gain exposure to the people, preparation, strategy, and teamwork involved in representing clients and moving a case from intake through litigation.

Throughout the summer, participants may have opportunities to observe attorneys in depositions, mediations, court hearings, and other legal proceedings, providing a firsthand look at advocacy and the litigation process.

More Than an Internship

Bey Foundation Fellowship is intended to help participants understand that practicing law involves more than what happens inside a courtroom. Participants see firsthand the preparation, client communication, investigation, case management, teamwork, and attention to detail that take place before an attorney ever enters a courtroom.

For high school and undergraduate students considering law school, the program offers an early opportunity to explore whether the legal profession is the right path for them. For law students, the experience provides an opportunity to connect their legal education with the practical realities of working with attorneys, clients, and active cases.

Hands-On Legal Experience

Depending on their educational level, experience, and the needs of the firm, participants may have opportunities to:

  • Work alongside attorneys, paralegals, case managers, and other legal professionals on active matters;
  • Observe depositions, mediations, hearings, and court proceedings to experience the litigation process firsthand;
  • Assist with preparing and organizing lawsuits, case files, and litigation materials;
  • Help prepare deposition, mediation, and trial notebooks and learn the preparation that goes into representing a client;
  • Review court dockets, gather medical records, and assist with other tasks involved in moving a case forward; and
  • Participate in client intake and communication under appropriate supervision while learning the importance of client service.

Learn. Observe. Contribute.

At Bey & Associates, we believe exposure can shape opportunity. Through the Bey Foundation Fellowship, we aim to introduce the next generation of legal professionals to the practice of law while providing meaningful experiences that can help participants make informed decisions about their education and future careers.
