About Mr. Obata
Nicholas Obata is an Associate Attorney at Bey & Associates, specializing in personal injury law with a focus on medical malpractice and birth injury cases. Drawing from his hands-on experience in healthcare, including three years working in a hospital’s Cardiothoracic ICU and Emergency Room, Nicholas brings a unique understanding of the medical protocols and training that inform his legal approach. He previously clerked with the Southern Institute for Medical and Legal Affairs and under the Honorable Bradley Almond of the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Alabama. He is deeply committed to advocating for those who have suffered due to medical negligence and seeks justice for families facing the lifelong impact of birth injuries.
Outside of work, Nicholas enjoys watching Alabama football and UAB basketball and playing tennis competitively. He grew up in Atlanta and is excited to be back home.

At a previous legal job, Nicholas worked on a medical malpractice trial involving a young girl with the same birth injury he was born with. The plaintiff’s mother, concerned for her daughter’s future, asked to speak with him, and he shared his own experience, explaining how he had led a full life and returned to law to fight for families like hers. The comfort and hope Nicholas saw in her were more powerful than any verdict and continue to fuel his commitment to advocacy.
